Knoxville, Tennessee is a hot spot for millennials. Not only is the city booming with fun things to do, the University of Tennessee is awesome too! If you are moving to Knoxville and are looking to attend the University of Tennessee, there is good news if you have credits from a previous school that you need transferred.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reports that the university received around 1,200 transfer students during the 2014-2015 school year. With the Tennessee Promise, the number of transfer students is looking at a sharp increase over the coming academic years. The Tennessee Promise guarantees that students who are finishing their first two years at community college will be able to successfully transfer their credits to the university, rather than having to retake certain classes.

Knoxville movers are excited to see if the initiative will be more of an incentive for millennials who were looking to move to Knoxville but decided not to due to their non-transferable credits. The Tennessee Promise program is currently in place for transfer students from Pellissippi State Community College and will be expanding to more community colleges throughout the state during the next year.

While there are many ways to cool off during this scorching summer heat, perhaps the best way (and most fun) is with the help of a 1,000 foot slip and slide.

That’s right, you read that correctly – a 1,000 foot slip and slide. Aside from proving the realization that dreams really do come true, the Slide the City event that has been making its way across the nation, finally plans to make a pit stop in Knoxville at the end of this month.

Your local Knoxville movers are excited to share that on top of featuring a ridiculously long slip and slide, the event also promises to offer so many more fun-filled activities. At the event, there will also be tons of music, dancing, food, drinks and tons of swag to take home. Moving to Knoxville this June could never be more fun with Slide the City serving as the perfect way for you and your family to take a much-needed break from packing and unpacking moving boxes.

What could potentially be the best day ever, sliders must be at least five-years-old and have an inflatable tube in order to ride. It is also recommended for all attendees to wear water shoes in order to prevent any accidents from happening. After all, you would not want anything to ruin such an exciting day!

The Slide the City slide is the length of three football fields and is perfect for the entire family to enjoy a day of fun, while keeping cool in the Knoxville heat. The event encourages locals to bring all of their selfie sticks, go-pros, floaties, and water guns for the water-soaked day. Take a break from moving and attend Slide the City before it slides out of town!

The annual Secret City Festival just outside Knoxville, Tennessee, expects to see headliners like the Marshall Tucker Band and Three Dog Night gracing the stage this year. With such huge headliners will also come huge crowds– thousands, in fact.

Mayor Warren Gooch proclaimed that, “the Secret City Festival is an exciting two days for our city. We always look forward to it because it provides entertainment, festivities and activities for every one of every age. It gives us an opportunity to showcase our city and extend Oak Ridge hospitality to all of our visitors.” In agreement with Gooch, Knoxville moving companies are sure that the Secret City Festival is an appealing event for those who are not only looking to visit, but also for those who may be looking to move to Knoxville in the near future.

The locals have responded with excited anticipation for the upcoming event, as evidenced by the fact that the amount of advance ticket sales have far exceeded ticket sales for past festivals. Aside from multiple concerts every night, the Secret City Festival does not just offer musical performances, they also have everything from historical displays, an arts and crafts fair, and a car show.

Gooch expressed his excitement by stating that, “it’s jam-packed this year in terms of all the different activities.” The future attendees continue to show the most excitement for the Battle of Normandy, with World War II re-enactors. However, that may stand to change after they see how many new, fun additions have been added to the venue this year.

The festival is on its 13th year and continues to celebrate the city’s rich history and traditions. With the way things are heading, it looks like your local Knoxville movers and the rest of the community will continue to frequent the event for many years to come.

The city of Knoxville is about to have a new claim to fame – they are now home of the Knoxville Honeysuckle Saison.

Making its grand debut to the community at the upcoming Knoxville Brewfest, this new brew comes from the hands of nine local craft brewers; including: Woodruff’s Brewing Co., Schultz Brau Brewery, Saw Works Brewing Co., Pretentious Beer & Glassware Co., Hexagon Brewing Co., Crafty Bastard Brewery, Blackhorse Brewery, Balter Beerworks and Alliance Brewing Co.

One employee of Knox Brew Tours, Zack Roskop, explains that, “Knoxville is between Nashville and Asheville, two really great beer cities, but we’re on our way to competing with them. What a great way to help raise awareness of what’s coming down the pipeline.” Knoxville movers know that this is something for beer-loving, incoming residents to get excited about.

The idea to create a brew unique to Knoxville, came when Roskop initially asked a friend to help him make a beer that he could serve at this upcoming beer fest. To his surprise, not only did his friend agree to help, but multiple others stepped forward who were willing to put in their two-cents. When this happened, Roskop initially thought “let’s find a way to take the opportunity to elevate the beer community and bring the breweries together.”

This new Knoxville brew ultimately turned into a way to bring the breweries closer, and ended up creating the recipe for the new Knoxville Honeysuckle Saison.

Roskop assures that “no individual or business is making money off this beer. One hundred percent of the ingredients were donated. They donated their time. To have 10 businesses come together to elevate their exposure and the city as a whole for free, blows my mind.”

Needless to say, your local Knoxville movers and the rest of the city look forward to adding more unique local brews to the city’s menu, making Knoxville even more of the perfect city to move to.

Your local Knoxville movers are excited to share that Bonnaroo continues in its tradition of bringing in music fans from all over the nation, for the fourteenth year in a row this June.

Originally starting in 2002 and taking place on a sprawling 700 acre farm, thousands upon thousands make the annual pilgrimage to see their favorite artists fill up the festival’s many stages. Some concert-goers braved flat tires, while others waited in lines that lasted longer than five hours. But, one thing remains constant – the dedication of going to the festival.

Most attendees opt to camp at the event, which leads to many of them creating new friends and bonding with their new weekend festival families; a great way to meet new people and take a break from moving if you are moving to Knoxville.

According to one Bonnaroo visitor, “when you park, you have to throw your stuff out on the ground and spread out as fast as you can.”

This year, the festival will have a “silent disco,” where everyone goes to a silent tent with a DJ and wears headphones in order to jam out to the music.

Bonnaroo veteran Diomande Pandis, described the experience as, “everybody dancing, but if you walk by and you’re not in it, you don’t hear a thing. You just see everyone rocking out. It’s so fun…I usually do it at like 5 a.m.”

While Mumford and Sons, and Florence and the Machine seem to be one of the most talked about performers, other acts this year include: Kendrick Lamar, Alabama Shakes, Earth Wind and Fire and Tove Lo. Local movers, locals, and new residents share the same level of excitement for the annual Tennessee event – so if you are moving to Knoxville, don’t miss Bonnaroo!
