Premiere Knoxville Movers – 865-675-1556

If you are moving to Knoxville, there are a couple moving terms that you should 100% be aware of:

  • Rogue movers
  • Fraudulent movers
  • Chameleon movers

All of the above are terms that homeowners, professional moving companies, the Office of Inspector General, the Better Business Bureau, the Department of Transportation, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration have given to illegitimate moving companies.

Professional and credible Knoxville movers want homeowners to be aware of the above moving companies that are out there. Chameleon movers are moving companies who pop up for a year or two and cause a ton of moving infractions, then disappear.

In 2012, the Office of Inspector General at the Transportation Department created a most wanted list of fugitives who have been charged with “transportation-related crimes,” and the majority of them are wanted for fraudulent moving and theft.

Regardless of whether you are moving to Knoxville locally, from out-of-state, or from overseas, Knoxville movers cannot stress enough that you do a ton of research before hiring any moving company. As you can see on the most wanted list, some chameleon movers are marked as “armed and dangerous.” Check to see how long the company has been in business and verify the date via online reviews and customer testimonials. Only settle for at-home moving quotes so that your costs do not unexpectedly get hiked, and never settle for the cheapest estimate that you receive- although moving can be costly, in the era of chameleon movers, you get what you pay for.

If you are moving to Knoxville and love to dance or love studying dance, World Dance Weekend is an event that is coming to Knoxville this month and is one that you can get super excited about!

World Dance Weekend will be coming to the Square Dance Center on Tulip Avenue in Knoxville on October 31st and November 1st, and will take place all day. Knoxville movers are excited that the weekend event decided to make a stop in Knoxville this year, as World Dance Weekend is a worldwide event that attracts thousands of aspiring dancers each year. The event features many folk dances from different parts of the world and will be taught by professional folk teachers from England.

Knoxville moving companies have heard talk around town that Bethan & Stefan Freedman are going to be the instructors, and they are Europe’s most popular and colorful circle dance teachers. Bethan & Stefan Freedman led the event last year and will be teaching long, meditative dance sequences this year.

If you are moving to Knoxville and love folk dance or have children who would enjoy the event, World Dance Weekend is open to dancers of all levels of experience and age. As if Knoxville didn’t already have enough outdoor fun going on, Knoxville movers were thrilled to hear that the Mountain Bike Race was held in Knoxville’s Urban Wilderness on the new Flow Trail.

The competition was for middle and high school students only and took place on Sunday, October 11th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. However, participants did not necessarily have to be from Knoxville, as some families were said to have drove all the way from Kentucky to take part in the race. For families who have recently moved to Knoxville, it was the perfect way for teens to make new friends in Knoxville and the surrounding states.

Organizer Katherine Williams explained how important it is to have a race for local cycling teams, and they wanted the youth to get excited about participating in local outdoor events. “We typically do five to six lap count and a long loop, this course it’s a lot shorter so it’s a lot more intense, more laps because it’s only a mile and a half, the wet conditions made us condense the course down to a shorter loop, a short track versus the cross country style track,” said Williams.

Knoxville moving companies like All My Sons are eager to see if the Mountain Bike Race will continue to be a Knoxville tradition, as it is in Chattanooga, Nashville, and Memphis already.

This month, a woman reported that a Colorado moving company picked up her son’s household items back in August and has yet to deliver them.

Stephani Johns-Hines says that her son was moving to Washington and did a search for moving companies, and found Americawide Movers. She says that from the start there were problems. The movers didn’t show up for pickup when promised, then delayed an entire day. When the movers finally arrived, they charged $800 more than originally quoted. Since the move was from Colorado to Washington, Americawide Movers told the family that it would take five days for Johns-Hines’ son’s belongings to arrive at his new location; however, it has been 27 business days and his belongings are still missing.

Americawide Operations Manager, Eva Allmacher, says that the company is not scamming anyone and that the $800 was because there were more belongings than expected. She also stated that yes, the delivery is late, but it is coming.

Johns-Hines is filing complaints with the District Attorney’s Consumer Fraud Office and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Her advice is to research companies who have a great reputation and a long reputation. “It may seem more expensive but sometimes you get what you pay for,” she says.

J-Adam Smith, a paranormal historian who has received national attention for his appearance on the Travel Channel and numerous other media outlets, is stirring up the ghouls and goblins of Knoxville.

If you are moving to Knoxville, every Friday and Saturday night you can join Smith on his ghost tour in the historic Market Square and many other places that the locals frequent – without even knowing their violent history.

Smith’s tour consists of a mile long walk through downtown Knoxville, checking out buildings and parks that are haunted. Many of these seemingly normal locations go unnoticed among locals, including Market Square, the East Tennessee History Museum, the Oarsman statue where many paranormal sightings have taken place, First Presbyterian Church Cemetery (the oldest cemetery in Knoxville), and Mast General Store. Although these are the only locations on his tour, Smith throws in extra information on haunted Knoxville places along the way.

Before the tour, you will receive a flashlight, which have such simple circuits that spirits are able to turn them on and off, making their presence known along the tour. Cameras are also encouraged. Smith will also teach proper ghost etiquette, how to not be afraid, and how to be polite to ghosts and kindly introduce yourself.

Knoxville movers can’t wait to learn more about the haunted history of Knoxville, and Smith’s tour comes at the perfect time – just before Halloween. Visit http://www.hauntedknoxville.net/ for more information.

Regardless of whether you were fighting for the Orange or rooting for the Crimson, one thing remains true about the University of Tennessee versus University of Oklahoma game – it helped the Knoxville economy tremendously.

As people were moving to Knoxville, driving in, and flying in from all over Tennessee and Oklahoma earlier this month, Knoxville stores and restaurants saw a surge in sales. Why? Because regardless of whether you were a Knoxville local or an out-of-towner here rooting for the UO, everyone was dropping money in the city.

“They are staying and they are spending money and they are supporting, not only the team, but they’re supporting the town,” said Tracy Hicks, General Manager of the Hilton Garden Inn on Cumberland Avenue.

Knoxville movers were surprised that new residents were able to even book rooms in the local hotels during their move, since the majority of hotel rooms across town were booked. One hotel, Hick’s hotel, said that it had been booked for the major game since February, with one single person spending $35,000 at her hotel every single season.

“He has 4 rooms every home football game so he’s dropping about 5k every home football game just in my hotel,” she said. “So in Knoxville can you imagine what he’s doing to boost the economy?”

Although the UO claimed victory over UT, locals welcomed the enormous boost to their local economy from their Oklahoma visitors

If you love comical classics like Nacho Libre, Shallow Hall, School of Rock, and Orange County, then Knoxville movers know that you will be ecstatic to find out that the hilarious lead star Jack Black is coming to Knoxville this month!

Jack Black will be bringing a little bit of Hollywood to Knoxville as he comes into town for a charity screening of his new movie Goosebumps. On September 24, the A-list actor will be attending an exclusive charity screening at Regal Cinemas Pinnacle 18 and all proceeds will go to benefit Variety – The Children’s Charity of Eastern Tennessee.

The local Regal Cinemas in Knoxville founded the local Variety chapter and has raised over $7.6 million to assist children in Eastern Tennessee, a number that makes residents and local Knoxville movers joyous to be living in such a giving city.

Scholastic has sold over 400 million Goosebumps books worldwide, making the new movie highly anticipated.

“With the success of the ‘Goosebumps’ series of books, we know there is an enormous fan base of adults and children that are truly excited to see this adventure comedy up on the big screen,” said Ken Thewes, chief marketing officer at Regal Entertainment Group. “Regal is thrilled to bring this film and star to Knoxville for the benefit screening while raising money for a great cause.”

If you are moving to Knoxville this month and have children, the Goosebumps premiere is definitely a local event to make it to. You can also lend a helping hand at the local Variety chapter throughout the year as well.

Summer events are officially coming to a close and children are back in school, but just because the children cannot play all day does not mean that their furry friends can’t. The 2015 summer season went out with a splash in Knoxville, as the city celebrated the fourth annual Doggie Dip in Knoxville.

Although the large pool located off Bruhin Road in North Knoxville had already closed for the season, it re-opened for the annual “Doggie Dip.” At the event, families in the area could bring their canines to enjoy a dip in the facility’s large pool. The happy pups were able to dive in the water, chase after provided tennis balls, or simply run around in the grass.

Knoxville Parks and Recreation Department employee, Randy Love, explained how the event is a great way to get those who are moving to Knoxville familiar with the facility.

“If we can get people to see it’s a beautiful facility, they might come back for swim lessons or a swim,” he said. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to show off what the city of Knoxville does offer to a segment of the population.”

Knoxville movers and families from all over North Knoxville brought their dogs to Doggie Day, resulting in a turnout of over 160 canines mingling and swimming. If you are moving to Knoxville and have a dog, the event is sure to return next year, so you can meet other fellow dog lovers in your community.

If you are moving to Tennessee, you are about to see your Tennessee power bills lowering. Residents across the state are enthralled about Tennessee Valley Authority’s announcement to lower fuel costs to the lowest they have been in a year.

TVA announced that its total monthly fuel cost rate for September would be 1,958 cents per kilowatt hour, which TVA spokesman Jim Hopson stated that, “This is about 9 percent below the three-year average for September, and it is the lowest fuel-cost adjustment this calendar year.”

On top of lowering Knoxville local’s power bills, the Tennessee Valley Authority has been seeking public comment on their plans to buy power from an Alabama solar installation. Knoxville movers respect the fact that TVA is considering residents’ opinions, concerns, and taking into consideration possible alternatives. Hopefully, a resolution will be reached that can maintain the low fuel cost rate. The solar project would tie a 645 acre facility in Alabama, to an existing TVA transmission line.

“This is our first proposal for utility scale solar,” TVA Chief Operating Officer Chip Pardee told the TVA board back in February.

If you are moving to Knoxville, know that you have until September 14th to log your opinion online under environment, environmental reviews, and Riverbend Solar Headings, or by mail to TVA.

In efforts to employ only the best, the Tennessee Department of Correction offers sign-on bonus by launching an incentives program that will encourage current employees to recommend people they know to apply for jobs.

In need of a job and planning on moving to Knoxville? If you know someone who works for the Department, you can receive a signing bonus if you apply and get hired by referral. Beginning August 17th, all correctional officers and nurses who are joining the agency will receive a $600 signing bonus.

In addition, if you work for the Department already and know someone who is an outstanding worker, you can receive $100 for each new correctional officer or nurse that you refer.

Commissioner Derrick Schofield explains, “Our new recruits frequently tell us that they heard about the great opportunities at TDOC from one of our current employees. The signing bonus and referral programs help us compete with other industries for the best and the brightest applicants and rewards the staff that helps us recruit them.”

If you are moving to Knoxville, let a local Knoxville mover, like All My Sons Moving & Storage, help move you in. That way, you can apply to join the state’s largest law enforcement agency, the Tennessee Department of Correction, as either a correctional officer or nurse.
