Fun Activities for the Whole Family After Moving to Knoxville

Our All My Sons moving team believes that one of the best ways to get your family settled into a new home is to get out and explore the town, especially through community events and happenings. If you are moving to Knoxville during the month of September, check out some of these family fun activities that truly showcase the city’s heritage and community.

History at Mable Springs.

On Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18, Marble Springs State Historic Site will celebrate its Sevier Days living history weekend. The celebration will be held at the farm homestead of John Sevier, Tennessee’s first governor.

The event marks Sevier’s 271st birthday. The event includes demonstrations of such 18th century skills as open-hearth cooking, spinning, weaving, and blacksmithing. There will be further demonstrations of 18th century weapons, including militia drills. There will also be regional craftspeople who demonstrate their talents, as well as hands-on archaeological activities. Proceeds will go to the preservation and education programs of Marble Springs.

Block Party.

Jerry’s Artarama in Knoxville will be celebrating the completion of a commissioned mural at the 5220 Homberg Drive building with an awesome block party. This is a great event to get the whole family involved after moving to Knoxville. There will be face painting, chalk, and spray paint competitions, as well as food trucks and snow cone vendors.

Knoxville Unearthed.

The McClung Museum of Natural History is opening a new exhibit about the city of Knoxville and how its history can be found in the ground. “Knoxville Unearthed” details the history of the city as seen through archaeological digs and research. The exhibit marks the city of Knoxville’s 225th birthday, and will be on display until January 8, 2017

Putt-Putt.

After moving to Knoxville, there will be a free day of mini golf at the Putt-Putt Golf & Games of Farragut on Monday, September 9. The free event is being sponsored by the Town of Farragut and the Putt-Putt Golf & Games.
