Famous Knoxville Piano Store Moves to Concierge-Style Business

As times are constantly changing and ever-evolving, so are businesses and the way in which they function. For some business owners, making the switch to being completely online, rather than having an open storefront, is a better option. For a famous Knoxville piano store, making the move to a concierge-style business is their newest business venture.

Rather than renewing their lease, Steinway Pianos in Turkey Creek will be closing their doors. Announced just last week by current general manager Brandon Herrenbruck, a lot of locals and Knoxville movers were shocked and sad to hear that the storefront is closing. However, only the store is closing, not necessarily the business.

“I’m just closing the store,” he said. “It’s going to look different, but they (customers) will still have the opportunities to see and play different instruments. While the physical store is going away, I’m not.”

Local Knoxville movers and music lovers learned that American Keyboard Galleries, Inc. and Steinway Piano Gallery of Nashville celebrated 85 years and 25 years in business just last year, making it a great run for the company, but its numerous locations and developing times have lead them to close the original store and now the Turkey Creek store.

The famous Knoxville piano store will be moving to a concierge-style business. Explained by Herrenbruck, they are developing a “sophisticated, multimedia website at steinwayfamilypianos.com that will allow customers to research, live chat, even Skype with the family company before having to travel to one of their famous retail stores like the one they have had in New York since 1853.”

Herrenbruck explained that he is moving the piano company to the next level, and compared his efforts to that of Carvana where you purchase a car online and they ship it to your house. Herrenbruck is looking to turn Steinway Pianos into an online piano shopping experience like no other, with pianos costing up to $50,000.
