If you moved to Knoxville last month and are looking for some fun activities to do, local moving companies have compiled a list of December fun in Knoxville for you and your family to enjoy.
1) A Spot of Tea: On Sunday, December 14, there will be a “Downton Abbey”-themed tea party at Historic Westwood, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. For $100 you can meet fellow fans of the television series and dress up in 1920s fashion.
2) Make and Take a Wreath: On Saturday, December 13, at 10:00 a.m. families can go to the Holiday Fairy Garden workshop at UT Gardens. Children can create their own fairy garden during the workshop, so make sure that you send your children with a container to them to build their fairy garden in.
3) Mountain Music will be held at the Clayton Center for the Arts at Maryville College and will take place at 8:00 p.m. on December 16. This year’s presentation is called “Mark O’Connor & Friends: An Appalachian Christmas” and is one of the biggest December fun in Knoxville events, hosting carolers, fiddlers, and bluegrass artists with a mountainous backdrop.
4) Ballet Moves is another Maryville event, by the Appalachian Ballet Company. The ballet will be performing “The Nutcracker” at the Clayton Center on December 13, at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
5) Run for Arthritis will be celebrating its 24th Jingle Bell 5K Run/Walk at 8:30 a.m. on December 13, at World’s Fair Park. Given its name, the race’s proceeds will go to benefit the Arthritis Foundation and runners/walkers are expected to either wear holiday themed costumes or tie jingle bells to their socks for some holiday cheer.
